The Percy Walkus Hatchery is located in the Wuikinuxv village in Rivers Inlet. It is an incredible success story of partnership with The Sports Fishing sector and the First Nations community. 7 years ago a dream was started when Rick Hansen called a meeting and brought our incredible team together. 6 years ago the Dream became a reality and The Percy Walkus Hatchery was built and commenced taking care of 3 iconic River System's The Chuckwalla, Kilbella and the world famous Wannock River and the Chinook salmon that call them home. Our little hatchery today raises and releases
420,000 Chinook babies every year. The Vast majority of our funding comes from private sponsors and donors. This year the Annual Rick Hansen and friends of Rivers Inlet event at Duncanby Lodge was not able to happen because of the Covid Travel restrictions. This event raises $300,000 annually to fund the hatchery. It is our hope that the incredible experiences and items we have for sale in the on line auction will help us make up that $300,000.
